What a busy couple of months for the KRVSA!

February :

A group of sportsmen traveled to Tallahassee on February 21st and 22nd to attend the FWC Quarterly Meeting at our state capitol, our President was among those attending.

In these meetings our attendees had the opportunity to speak with Legislators, voice our concerns and build positive relationships.

Thank you to all the club representatives that were in attendance.

March :

March started off with FREEDOM RIDE 2024 and what a huge success it was!  The participation this year was something the club had never seen, and with that, the fund raising was a record breaker! Thank you all for attending and supporting the club, looking forward to next year!

Freedom Ride 2025 is March 1, 2025

As you know we have been very concerned with the future of Creek Ranch off Lake Hatchineha, a letter was sent to Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson, and CFO Jimmy Patronis explaining the key role of Hatchineha and how its well being is a key roll to the head waters of the Everglades. We requested full support and state funding to save this piece of “ Old Florida”.    At the end of March Gov. DeSantis and the cabinet made the acquisition final and another piece of the Kissimmee River Basin is preserved ! This is what our club is about!

We had leadership attend the Recreational Forum in Naples, working on public access, conservation and networking. Thank you to all that attended, your efforts to expand public access and experiences on SFWMD lands does not go unnoticed.

Other news :

A bit on the Lake Clean Up back in January, SFWMD was in contact with us and requested pictures and tonnage for their records. They were very appreciative of our continued efforts to keep our waterways clean. Great job KRVSA!

The KRVSA received a letter from the FWC Executive Director thanking us for attending the December 2023 Commission meeting in Orlando. In this letter the KRVSA, along with the partnership with the Freedom Tour, received a huge thank you for our donation of life vests.
